Protea wreaths are an exotic and intriguing accent for the holiday season. On top of giving wonderful color for the first 3-4 weeks, the wreaths dry beautifully and can be enjoyed for many years. As the saying goes, "Protea don't die, they just dry."
All wreaths are backed with a thin layer of redwood/cypress, which allows the rings to be soaked (re-moisturized) in a shallow pan/tub/puddle of water to extend both their "green" and scented features. Alternatively, a heavy misting of this backing layer will have the same effect.
Mini Wreaths are set on 8" rings with a finished size between 14-16" in diameter. Perfect for smaller doors or centerpiece displays on holiday tables. Standard wreaths are set on 14" rings with a finished size between 18-24" in diameter, depending on the material used.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Keep wreaths out of sun and heat. The cooler and shadier the location, the longer the wreaths will last. Examples: Not above a fireplace, near a heater, or next to a stove. The wreaths are backed with a thin layer of redwood/cypress. To extend the green and scented life, soak this backing layer or the whole wreath in a tub or pan of temperate water for about 10 minutes. This allows the moisture to re-wick up through the wreath. The more sun or heat the wreath is exposed to, the more frequent the dipping should be. At Crescent Hill Nursery this is usually done once a week. Otherwise, misting the wreath with plain filtered water will work, but it will need to be done more frequently.
