‘Hachiya’ is a classic astringent persimmon producing large, acorn-shaped fruit. When fully soft and ripe, flesh becomes intensely sweet and jelly-like. Harvest occurs in fall. Fruit is excellent for fresh eating when soft and for baking.

Standard trees on D. lotus rootstock are durable and adaptable with good drought tolerance once established. Trees are attractive landscape specimens with minimal pest issues.
