The Eastern Redbud is a favorite ornamental tree and for good reason. The beautiful mauve-pink blooms arrive in early spring, adding brilliant color and attracting pollinators to your landscape. The leaves are heart-shaped in varying colors of greens to burgundy and often turning yellow in the fall. Available as a single trunk, but in general, the form is vase shaped with multiple-trunks, adding to the sculptural form of this gorgeous tree.
||Rosy-Pink flowers with foliage turning Scarlet/Purple in summer.
||Excellent specimen tree for mass plantings or borders. Great for your pollinator, cottage or butterfly garden.
||Redbuds can grow in full sun to part shade, but more sun encourages abundant flower production. Afternoon shade is best in hotter climates.
||Tolerates all soil types; prefers slightly alkaline Ph. Redbuds require well-draining soil with moderate fertility. In general, fertilization is not required. Regular watering, especially during a dry spell.
|Planting and Care Tip:
Carefully prune in late fall. Redbuds don't like to be transplanted, so choose a location and let it be.
