Locally Grown Christmas Trees from Cozzolino Farms — Now at Evergreen Nursery

This holiday season, Evergreen Nursery is excited to offer a beautiful selection of locally grown Christmas trees from Cozzolino Farms in Half Moon Bay. Fresh, fragrant, and sustainably grown in the Bay Area, these premium trees include three favorite varieties: Douglas Fir, Nordmann Fir, and Noble Fir. Each has its own look, fragrance, and decorating strengths, making it easy to find a tree that fits your home and holiday traditions.

Locally grown trees arrive fresher, last longer, and have a smaller environmental footprint. And because we’re an independent garden center, we hand-select and carefully handle each one so you have the best quality tree for your holiday decorating.

Meet the Christmas Trees at Evergreen Nursery

Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir is a classic Christmas favorite. Its soft needles range from light to dark green and radiate around the branch, creating a full, lush look. When crushed, the needles release a pleasant, sweet holiday fragrance. Branches are flexible and medium weight—perfect for most ornaments, though extremely heavy decorations may be better suited to Noble Fir. With regular watering, Douglas Firs maintain good needle retention and stay fresh throughout the season.

Nordmann Fir

For households with allergies or scent sensitivities, the Nordmann Fir is a fantastic choice. This tree features soft, glossy, dark green needles that point forward, giving a smooth and elegant appearance. While nearly scent-free, Nordmann Firs are known for their exceptional durability. The strong, layered branches hold ornaments well, and their famous “no-drop” needle retention makes them one of the cleanest, longest-lasting Christmas trees available.

Noble Fir

If you love heavy ornaments, handcrafted décor, and that fresh, traditional Christmas tree smell, the Noble Fir is the showstopper. Needles are short, blue-green, and curve upward to reveal sturdy, architectural branches. These branches are stiff and very strong, making Noble Fir ideal for elaborate decorating and for creating wreaths and garlands. With excellent needle retention, this tree stays beautiful for weeks when properly watered.

How to Care for Your Fresh Christmas Tree

A fresh tree lasts longer with a little daily attention. For best results:

  • Make a fresh cut at the base before placing the tree in its stand.

  • Get the tree into water as soon as possible after bringing it home.

  • Check water levels daily and never let the water reservoir run dry.

  • Keep the tree away from fireplaces, heaters, and direct sunlight, which can dry it out.

With proper care, your tree will remain vibrant, fragrant, and festive throughout the holiday season.
