Description
Acer palmatum 'Bihou' is a captivating Golden Bark Japanese Maple renowned for its striking appearance and graceful form. This deciduous tree features deeply lobed leaves that emerge in a light green hue turning to emerald during the spring. As the season progresses, the foliage transforms to a warm, buttery yellow, providing a vibrant contrast against the tree's smooth, light bark.
In the fall, 'Bihou' offers a stunning display of color, as the leaves turn to rich shades of orange and gold. The bark itself is a standout feature exhibiting a distinctive peeling texture that adds visual interest. In winter after the leaves drop, the bark's orange-tinged color is fully revealed.

Its elegant, upright growth habit and airy canopy make it a perfect choice for creating dappled shade in outdoor spaces. Care
Sun Needs:
Part sun/part shade. For all Japanese Maples it’s important to think about light exposure: Too much light can damage delicate leaves. Too little light, and some of the more colorful varieties will take on an attractive greenish tone, but not the brilliant fall colors. For best color, most maples need a location with part day's sun or at least high light.
Soil/Water Needs:
Moist, organically rich, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Prefers consistent moisture: Mulch will help retain moisture. Don't let soil dry out, nor become waterlogged.
