Known as Japanese quince. This is a deciduous shrub with thorny branches, glossy leaves and bunches or brilliant red flowers in spring followed by red-blushed, yellow-green fruit. Primarily grown as an ornamental, the fruit is quite edible. Can be pruned as a hedge for privacy. Attracts pollinators!
||This quince has a wonderful, aromatic scent reminiscent of pineapples, mangoes, lemon and vanilla when ripe. Quite astringent when raw and require cooking for palatability. Once cooked, they will soften and the flavor with become fruity and tangy with a floral taste. Excellent for jams and jellies or used as flavoring for savory dishes.
