||Fuyu 'Jiro' Persimmon
Hardy, attractive tree, practically pest free with medium size, stunning deep orange-red fruit. Stunning fall foliage. Tolerates cool or hot climate.
Persimmons have fabulous fall color. They delight us with their stunning orange fruit, interesting silhouette, and delicious fruit. Asian varieties are less astringent and can be eaten while firm, while American varieties need to be fully ripe to enjoy their rich flavor.
Deciduous, slow growing, upright tree. 3-5 years before fruit production.
||Plant in full sun (minimum 6 hours).
||Persimmons can tolerate many types of soil if it is well-drained. It is important to know that persimmons do not like excess water. Give your newly planted tree a good soaking to remove air pockets and don't water again until buds start to break. Elevate planting if excess water is a concern.
|Planting and Care Tip:
||Persimmons have a long taproot so deep, loamy soil is best. Our Asian variety persimmons prefer sandy-loam soil.
||Crunchy, sweet, non-astringent fruit. Luscious.
||Spring: Lovely white flowers
