Choose from our Elegant Orchid Selections

Orchids are a nice gift during the holidays for the green thumb or plant fancier in your life. Grown indoors, Orchids require little care. We have Orchids that will bloom for weeks.

The orchid family is one of the largest in the realm of flowering plants, with more than 25,000 species and over 200,000 hybrids. These delicate and beautiful houseplants are not difficult to grow.

Orchids have particular needs when it comes to their planting medium. Because most Orchids are epiphytic (roots are exposed to the air) they need a light, porous and well-draining medium. These plants thrive best in light in order to bloom. Although they can’t tolerate direct sun they do need bright indirect light.

Only water if they are dry. Giving your plant too much water can lead to rotting. Orchids like to be misted with water in order to increase their humidity. After blooming your Orchid enters a dormant phase where it rests before blooming again.

Tips for Taking Care of Orchids

  • Orchids need a special light, porous and well-draining medium.
  • Select a pot that has excellent drainage and multiple holes in the bottom or on the sides. Orchids like to spread out not down.
  • Only water if they are dry. Giving your plant too much water can lead to rotting.
  • Place your orchid in indirect light.
  • Clips can be used for flowers if the blooms are too heavy.
