Create Attractive Planters and Hanging Baskets Using Calibrachoa
Just arrived at the Nursery, are the effusive and fun annual, Calibrachoa. Also known as Million Bells, for their many flowers, or Trailing Petunias, for their habit and bloom shape, these stunners are perfect to plant in pots for seasonal arrangements.
They come in many different colors, are frost tender, and like full sun, and moist but well-drained soil. They require regular water, but allow the top inch or so of soil to dry before re-watering. In very hot areas, a little shade will encourage them to continue blooming.
Calibrachoa are also self-pruning, which means that older flowers will drop off, rather than persisting on the plant, so no need for dead-heading! Although, pinching back the plant can prevent it from becoming too leggy. Technically, Calibrachoa are perennials, but are often sold as annuals, especially in colder climes.
Calibrachoa is perfect for hanging baskets, planters and seasonal ground cover. Plant them to encourage pollinators in your garden; hummingbirds will appreciate it!
